Lithium carbonate · 600 mg

Mood stabiliser. The core medication for bipolar I — it lowers the height of the highs.

What you may feel: Thirst, mild hand tremor, nausea in the first two weeks.

Olanzapine · 5 mg

Evening

Settles racing thoughts and restores sleep during the acute phase. Usually tapered off after discharge.

What you may feel: Drowsiness, increased appetite.

Melatonin · 3 mg

Supports the sleep-wake rhythm that keeps the episode settling.

What you may feel: Vivid dreams.
